Biographical Info:
I am a second-year graduate student interested in studying issues
pertaining to high-level vision, particularly how implicit and explicit
expectation-driven visual exploration (context) contributes to scene
understanding and exploration. I would like to combine empirical
studies of human behavior with computational modelling of attention
to discover how the visual system creates and utilizes associations
between elements in a scene (objects, their layout, scene background).
I moved to Boston in August of 2004 from Austin
TX, where I was born and raised. A product of the Austin public
school system, I pursued undergraduate degrees in engineering and
biology at the University of Texas. Following graduation I worked
in the lab of Dr. Robin Gutell, where I aided in ongoing research
in comparative RNA sequence and structure analysis using tools of
computational biology and bioinformatics. Currently, I am pursuing
a Ph.D in Cognitive Science at MIT.
As the oldest of two daughters from two wonderful
parents, I have been very fortunate throughout the course of my
life. Providing a solid education for all children is requisite
for the social, scientific, and economic progress of this society,
and it is toward this objective that I would like to contribute.
